Odessa High School Band Booster Club
Minutes of the July 11, 2005 Meeting of the Odessa High School Band Boosters
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by President Jim Pennington.
Laura Osborn, recording secretary, was unable to attend so the minutes were not read. Minutes were taken by Pam Raffurty, corresponding secretary.
Corresponding Secretary Pam Raffurty reported that thank you certificates are being sent out to the chaperones and other funders for the Washington, D.C. trip.
Treasurer, Rick Walker reported that the following was in the accounts for the band:
D.C. account balance:          $31,248.22 (all receipts are not yet in)
  Money Market Account        $2,260.95
  Operating Account:               $5, 288.01
A discussion ensued about what will be done with the remaining money in the D.C. account. No decisions were made primarily because Mr. Hansen could not attend the meeting tonight.
In new business, Jim announced that we need someone to volunteer to be the Hospitality chair person for the marching season. Laura Scott has a notebook that spells out the responsibilities. Jim asked members to think about it before the next meeting. It was proposed and seconded that we use some of the funds to buy cases of water for the marching season. The members felt that it would be more convenient to store and could possibly be purchased at a cheaper rate. Jim announced that there will need to be volunteers to donate 3rd Quarter snacks for the band students. More will be brought up about this at the next meeting.
Joe Smith proposed that we put $200 into an ad in the football program. Mike Tholen made a motion and Becky Cowman seconded the proposal.
Marching Band Camp will be on August 1 through August 9/ Volunteers signed up to provide refreshments for band camp.
Jim announced that the web site has been updated and encouraged everyone to check out events and calendars on the website.
The Odessa Marching Invitational will be on October 1st.
