The MRVC Conference band trip sheet is in the downloads section. This sheet covers both the chair placement audition on 2/24 and the clinic/performance on 3/6.
Students who would like a copy of the MU faculty playing their All-District/State Band audition music should bring a Blank CD to Mr. Maledy. C'mon, it's Free!
Parents, if you're interested in chaperoning or securing a hotel room with the band, please contact Linda . We need to wrap up our reservation details by 9/1 so don't wait!
Please bring hats to this Thursday night's practice so the boosters can attach the knots to the mirrors.
Great Job at Meet the Band, Band! Now, please make sure you care for the uniform the boosters have so carefully created for you. Please make sure you store your uniform in the uniform bags after they've had time to dry completely. The plumes should be stored in the cardboard tube and in the future should be left in the band room. Please don't store dirty socks or shirts in your uniform bag.
We DO NOT have early morning band on Monday, August 17th. We DO have it on Tuesday and Wednesday August 18th and 19th and will follow the published schedule thereafter. We will be inside all morning Monday checking out lockers/locks and cleaning the band room. Don't be late!
Saturday, August 15 Meet & March with the Band of Distinction!
Parents, friends, family, community supporters!
Everyone is invited to preview the 2009 Fall Marching Show:
"Celtic Trilogy"
Requested/Suggested "Admission": a case of water
your donation of a case of water will help keep the band members hydrated throughout the marching season at 6 separate festivals. We go through a lot more water than soda pop or sports drinks after a performance - thank you in advance for your donation!
What to Expect at Meet the Band
All staff, band and guard members will be introduced on the field
Band Booster officers will be available to answer questions, pass out Booster handbooks, and will be signing up volunteers for fall activities that we always need assistance with - most importantly - the Odessa Marching Invitational ("OMI"), which showcases our community and our program to visiting bands.
The band will perform the show opener in full uniform
Audience members will then be invited to join the band on the field to experience firsthand what it's like to learn marching drill with band members! It's a lot of fun for the students and the participants - and will give you just a taste of the amount of work our students put into perfecting an award-winning field show each fall! A voluntary monetary donation is requested (but not required) to march a drill spot
You are welcome to bring cameras and photograph throughout these Meet the Band activities - although as with all BOD activities, Belinda will be photographing the entire event for the Band Gallery as well and those pictures will always be available on the band website. So feel free to just sit back and enjoy the show!
Following Meet the Band
The school band group picture will be setup and taken by Kory Hales Photography immediately following field activities. After the group picture, your student is free to leave, or may remain to have individual pictures taken. Photo order envelopes were passed out the last day of band camp, and will also be available at Meet the Band.
