Dear Band Parents,
On October 30, 2006 Meyer Music will once
again be coming to the Odessa Middle School band room for the
instrument step-up night. The program is designed to offer
better quality instruments for your son or daughter. The
instrument step-up night will take place Monday October 30 from
5:30-7:00 pm.
The instruments offered by Meyer Music in
6th Grade are good quality beginning instruments. For many
students however, the instruments are becoming too basic.
Usually when a student moves from a beginner instrument to an
intermediate or professional instrument they are required to pay
for the new instrument in full. There is not usually a rent to
own program. Meyer Music has, however, designed a program that
will allow several payments to be made on an intermediate model
instrument. They will also take a Meyer Music instrument on a
trade in. If you have not rented from Meyer Music and would like
to trade in an instrument it will be done on a case-by-case
manner. This is a very good program because it will allow the
buyer better options for payment and it will put higher quality
instruments into the hands of eager to learn students.
Why does my son or daughter need a
different instrument? This is a question that most parents have
we this program was brought to their attention. The very first
answer is that the instruments offered in this program by Meyer
Music are higher quality than the original instruments rented
from Meyer Music. For example, the beginning clarinet is made of
composite plastic, where as the intermediate clarinet is made of
real wood. This will create a warmer, richer sound. The
intermediate model instruments will also be very helpful to
anyone wanting to play in college. With the intermediate
instrument most students will never have to own another
instrument. The only reason for a different instrument is if the
student wanted to major in music, or needed a professional line
instrument.
We highly recommend this program. It has
been beneficial to everyone who has already stepped-up
instruments. We know the entire band will benefit from even a
small few students purchasing an intermediate instrument. We
feel that the higher quality instruments will help on college
scholarship auditions and will last a lifetime for the student.

me at 633-1500. We hope to see you Monday October 30 from
5:30-7:00 pm.
