BAND BOOSTER NEWS

Band Booster Meeting – September 18, 2006

Vice President Pam Raffurty called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. in the high school band room. There were 40 members present.

Minutes of the 8.7.06 meeting were distributed. Motion made, seconded, and carried to accept the bids as written.

Treasurer report by Rick Walker (figures as of the end of August):

Checking: $9,865.19
Money Market: $6,348.65
Trip Account: $11,047.98

Magazine sales resulted in approximately $5,000 for the Middle School (to be used for new equipment) and $2,600 for the High School (applied to each student’s account who sold the merchandise). A few students raised nearly $150 for their account – most raised around $20-$40.

The fee for the Indianapolis trip was included in the $80 band fee.

Several individuals have been working on the field props (over 1,100) man-hours so far. The construction work was done at Darrell and Tracy Bell’s work building and accumulated considerable electricity. Several of the workers have tools or other equipment that will need to be replaced due to the work on the ramps. A motion was made, seconded, and carried that these individuals submit their receipts to Rick Walker for reimbursement from booster funds. This includes the expenses for the electricity.

Howard Bohn has agreed to transport the ramps fully assembled to Indianapolis for that marching competition. They will have to be disassembled for transport to the other competitions and re-assembled on-site.

Lisa Johnson, owner of Down Home Café, offered the use of her commercial ice machine for band events when needed.

Mr. Hansen circulated a rooming list for the Indianapolis trip. Those interested in being a chaperone may sign up by the grouping requested. The price for the chaperones will be approximately $100. The School Board requires a chaperon in every room, meaning only three students per room. Chaperones must adhere to school policy of no smoking nor drinking.

Travel consent forms must be submitted (notarized) to Rick Walker before students are allowed to attend the Carrollton competition. A notary will be available at the Thursday night practice. A form is on the website.

Grilles are needed for the Blue Springs competition.

Much care and concern continues to be expressed for Hannah and Cassia Vinson. A website is setup that will be updated with their condition. www.caringbridge.com (visit cassiavinson or hannahvinson).

We will have a meeting for the Odessa Marching Invitational on Monday, September 25.

Meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Connie Andrews
